Since I like lakes and gardens so much, this next set of pics were taken over a couple of days in Taman Tasik (Lake Gardens) in Taiping (a small city between Ipoh and Penang). To me, the old lake gardens from the 1800s with their unique avenue of dozens of huge rain-trees leaning towards the lake was well worth the visit. There is also a zoo on the far side of the lake (which we declined to visit since we’ve already been to a couple of zoos in Malaysia), and the gibbons housed in there could be heard to be having a ball from anywhere in the area. The other main attraction is nearby Bukit Larut (aka Maxwell Hill), where you get driven up a track in the back of an old land cruiser to an old-world cottage-style retreat. Yes, the British colonial-types loved their hill retreats here in the tropics.
P.S: Nice to hear the comments that have come in so far – keep them coming! 🙂 Any feedback is very helpful – likes, dislikes, praise, constructive criticism, questions, requests – its all good. Thanks for reading!
